Rep. Moore: Supporting Rural Pharmacies and Protecting Patient Access

Independent pharmacies are a lifeline for many rural communities, providing not only medications but also trusted healthcare guidance and personalized service.

I was proud to co-sponsor HB 1697, legislation that is helping more than 400 independent pharmacies across the state. One local pharmacy benefiting from these pharmacy benefit managers (PBM) reforms is Moreland & Devitt Pharmacy in Rushville, which will receive funding to help continue serving patients and supporting the community.

For many residents in west-central Illinois, independent pharmacies are often the most accessible healthcare resource available. Without them, patients could face long drives to obtain medications, lose the personal relationships and expertise that local pharmacists provide every day.
