“Today, Governor Pritzker signed into law the largest budget in Illinois history, a $55.9 billion spending plan that continues to move our state in the wrong direction.
Illinois families are struggling with the rising costs of groceries, housing, utilities, and everyday necessities. Instead of delivering meaningful relief, another budget was passed that includes nearly $800 million in new taxes and fees while increasing state spending to record levels. Since Governor Pritzker took office, state spending has grown by nearly 40 percent, yet taxpayers continue to be asked to pay more.
Illinoisans deserve a government that lives within its means and prioritizes taxpayers over politics. Unfortunately, this budget does neither. I remain committed to fighting for responsible spending, lower taxes, and greater transparency that make Illinois a more affordable place to live, work, and raise a family.”
