Rep. Moore Works With IDOT on New Student Loan Repayment Program

State Representative Kyle Moore is excited for the Illinois Department of Transportation’s launch of a new student loan repayment program aimed at recruiting and retaining qualified engineers across the state.
Earlier this year, Rep. Moore introduced House Bill 4322, legislation designed to establish a student loan repayment incentive program for engineers working at IDOT. While the legislation was not advanced during the current session, Moore continued working with IDOT officials to support the implementation of a similar initiative through the department.
“I introduced HB4322 because attracting and retaining qualified engineers is critical to keeping infrastructure projects moving across Illinois,” said Rep. Moore. “I am pleased to see IDOT launch this new student loan repayment program to help strengthen Illinois’ transportation workforce. Investing in recruitment and retention efforts like this helps ensure important infrastructure projects can continue moving forward in communities across our state.”
The new IDOT program is intended to help address workforce shortages and support engineers entering public service by assisting with student loan repayment costs.
Community Leader Laura McReynolds Honored at the Illinois Capitol

At the invitation of State Representative Kyle Moore, Laura McReynolds attended this year’s annual Women to Watch Conference in Springfield, a networking event hosted by Illinois House Republican women legislators.
“It was great to recognize a dedicated leader in the 99th District who gives so much to her community,” said Rep. Moore. “Laura McReynolds is an exceptional example of a woman to watch. She continues to lead and thrive in her career and in our community. This event was a great opportunity for Laura to network and learn alongside fellow women leaders.”
Laura McReynolds is a dedicated community leader and business owner based in Quincy. She and her husband, Ralph, moved to Quincy in 2002 with their two young children, drawn to the city’s safe neighborhoods, strong schools, and welcoming community. Since then, their family has been actively involved in volunteering and supporting local initiatives.
Alongside her husband and business partner, Laura helped grow their small business and continues to serve clients as the owner and operator of Adams & McReynolds Retirement Partners, where she has worked since 2008. In addition to her professional work, Laura serves as the 5th Ward Alderman for the City of Quincy, where she is dedicated to advocating for local residents.
The women were invited to Springfield for a one-day conference that included panel discussion of women leaders, a luncheon, tours of the State Capitol and Archives, committee hearings and House Floor debate observations, and a networking social hour.
Gearing Up For The End of Session

Rep. Moore is preparing for the final weeks of the spring legislative session as lawmakers work toward approving a balanced state budget before the May 31 deadline.
With budget negotiations intensifying in Springfield, Rep. Moore said his focus remains on protecting taxpayers, supporting core state services, and opposing additional tax burdens on Illinois families and businesses.
“Over the next few weeks, lawmakers will be making important decisions that impact families, businesses, schools, and communities across Illinois,” Moore said. “As we approach the end of session, I remain committed to advocating for a responsible budget that prioritizes fiscal stability without asking the 99th district to pay more.”
Recent reports indicate lawmakers are continuing discussions on the Fiscal Year 2027 budget, with debates surrounding spending priorities, revenue projections, and proposed tax increases. Republicans have raised concerns about increased spending pressures and the state’s long-term financial direction.
Rep. Moore also emphasized the importance of transparency throughout the budget process and encouraged residents of the 99th District to stay informed as negotiations continue.
“The decisions made during the final days of session will have lasting impacts across our state,” Moore said. “I will continue working to ensure downstate communities are represented and that Illinois remains a place where families, farmers, and small businesses can succeed.”
The Illinois General Assembly is scheduled to adjourn its regular spring session at the end of May.
Conversations that Matter:
Legislative Update in Quincy

Rep. Moore joined members of the Quincy Noon Kiwanis and Rotary clubs to provide an update on legislative activity in Springfield and discuss issues impacting communities across the 99th District.
During the meeting, Rep. Moore shared updates on legislation currently being considered in the Illinois General Assembly and spoke about priorities he is working on this legislative session. He also had the opportunity to hear directly from constituents and community leaders about the issues most important to them.
“I had a great time attending the joint Quincy Noon Kiwanis and Rotary meeting today,” said Rep. Moore. “These conversations are valuable and allow me to share what is happening in Springfield while also hearing directly from the people I represent. I’m also thankful for the opportunity to attend meetings like this.”
Rep. Moore continues to meet with local organizations, businesses, and residents throughout the district to discuss state issues and provide updates from the Capitol.
